The song, "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan was redone with a load of Canadian recording artists to produce one of the best tribute to Haiti songs. The song features artists such as Nelly Furtado, LIGHTS, Justin Nozuka, Avril Lavigne, Kardinal Offishall, Drake and even Justin Bieber. For the music fans, I truly believe that Drake's verse in it is some of his best work. Here's some of his verse:
"See we don’t have to wait for things to break apart
if you weren’t involved before it’s never too late to start
you probably think that it’s too far to even have to care
if you weren’t involved before it’s never too late to start
you probably think that it’s too far to even have to care
well take a look at where you live what if it happened there?"
The song will appear in NBA 2K10 and will be the anthem for the 2010 Fifa World Cup. This is pretty amazing for something that started as a simple song for an artist, K'naan, and evolved into a collaboration for the record books. Please take a listen, just search for it on my mixpod playlist on the right hand column :o).
Also, Haiti is still in dire need of help, such as removing the approximately 19 million cubic meters of debris that the earthquake created. You can find how you can help at the Canadian Red Cross website --> http://www.redcross.ca/
